"I may not be a competent judge, but this much I will say, that I have seen purer liquors, better cigars, finer tobacco, truer guns and pistols, larger dirks and bowie knives, and prettier courtesans, here in San Francisco, than any other place I have ever visited; and it is my unbiased opinion that California can and does furnish the best bad things that are attainable in America." -The Land of Gold: Reality vs. Fiction

"Gold & Guns in Downtown SF is the perfect mix of history and conversation. On one hand this is much more than an excuse to go bar hopping, and on the other, the specific streets we walked, bars we toured and cocktails we drank allowed us to peer into the origins of San Francisco's growth and prosperity. Well done and very worthwhile." -Mel
"As a local in SF, I learned things I never knew about this city. Our guide took the group to places I had never been in the city and I liked them all. The one part of the tour I especially loved was learning about Emperor Norton. The tour is the perfect length in time, not too long or short. I recommend this tour to locals and tourists; it's one of the best in the city!" -Megan
"I opted for Gold & Guns in Downtown SF mainly for its convenient timing, that it was a walking tour and that there was a touch of drinking involved. In a word? Fantastic. If you love cocktails (but not getting blind drunk) while learning about some of the seedier history of SF in a relaxed and informal atmosphere then I highly recommend this tour." -Mal
